Today I got the Nintendo Wii. Here's the whole, slightly funny story. It started Friday night, when my friend asks if I want to camp from Saturday at 10:00am to Sunday at 7:00am for the Nintedo Wii. I'm thinking, "No way. Not going to happen. I'd rather eat a live mouse. Waste a Saturday? Impossible. But then I remembered the Xbox 360, and the Playstation 3. Those things sold for so much more on eBay then people bought them for. I knew that it wouldn't be as much a profit as the 360 and PS3, but I knew it would be something. So I decided to do it.
I went to my friend's house at 9:50 the next morning, and we got to Wal-Mart at 10:00. At 11:00 another friend got there, and around 3:00 or 4:00, or maybe it was a bit later, another friend arrived. However, at 11:30, another guy, Mike, had arrived to wait for the Wii. I'll say right now, we could have arrived at midnight Saturday and still gotten a Wii, so it was kind of a waste, but not really (for many reasons). And 5:00 another guy, Ryan, came. Now there were six people: Me, my friend, his two friends (which included a Ryan, so there were two Ryans), Ryan, and Mike. Around 8:00 two more people arrived, and after that I didn't really count or acknowledge who the people were. Ryan (the one I didn't know) was pretty funny. There was this Wal-Mart employee, Tom, who kept kind of making fun of us. He's like, "I bet it's pretty cold out here. Here's what I'm going to do, at midnight, I'm going to buy all 15 consoles so you can't have them." Tom was pretty stupid, in that he didn't know that the consoles didn't start to sell until 7:00 and that there were 18, not 15. Then Ryan said, "Let's see how far you get to your car before everyone starts stealing them from you." Many customers asked us what we were doing, and Ryan kept making up stuff, like, "We want to see the store reopen tomorrow," and my personal favorite, "They're bringing the McRib back!" (cause the Wal-Mart has a McDonalds).
I tried to go to sleep at 12:20am, and I woke up around 12:50. I fell back asleep around 1:00 something and woke up around 2:07-2:26. All of this was done in a small fold out chair and I used the corner of a wall as a pillow. The second time I woke up, I was mad at the environment for being so cold, and mad at myself for waking up. I saw two new people had arrived. I asked one of the guys if he was a mugger, but then I said he must not be because he had a child with him. I thought it was a child, because it was a small guy and I didn't have my glasses or contacts on so I couldn't see his face. Then I realized he had a beard, and I apologized for being mistaken. Soon after I moved onto the concrete, which was very, very comfortable, I felt asleep, and was awoken at 3:30 to be told we were moving into Wal-Mart. I wish they didn't move us, because I was sleeping comfortably on the concrete, and since people were talking in the Wal-Mart, I couldn't get back to sleep. I managed to pass the time until 7:00 by reading, talking, and watching part of X-Men 3. Actually, at 6:45, we were given tickets (which, contrary to my belief, were just post-it sized pieces of paper with the word Wii and a number), and a woman told us she was giving the first two people special gifts. I was #2! I got a Wii hat and a Wii armband, both of which are not available to the general public. As I think I alluded to, I had no intention of actually playing this console, I wanted to sell it. In fact, it's on eBay right now, and the hat and armband are part of the listing. Oh yeah.
So, all in all, things went well. It was a fun time, I got a lot of reading done, laughed a lot, yeah. Very fun.
Post Script: They had a PS3 in the Wal-Mart which I periodically played. It was AWESOME!
