There are a lot of shows/movies where it comes down to someone having to guess a password on a computer. The PW ends up going back to something earlier in the show/movie, or something meaningful, and then everything ends up well. But usually these computers are like super secure, and have top secret information. Nobody would make the password something special to them. It would be a twenty character string like alkjd502klzlj10lgla2saklj36l2l1lkajkjd or something. But if that was true, then no movies or TV shows would work, and the economy would crumble like a cookie, a sweet, cesium-packed cookie.

The way that cops catch a lot of wanted criminals is through anonymous tips. And the thing is, the tips are always anonymous! Is there any other kind of tip? The police wouldn't say, "We've been given information from a tipster, Mr. Clark Lane, who resides at 1201 Eastberry Court, New York, New York. We thank him for helping take down an infamous mob boss, who must certainly have friends who will avenge him."
