On sitcoms, a lot of them are "filmed in front of a live studio audience". So, those "laughs" are probably from actually people, but since a lot of stuff on sitcoms isn't funny, they have those "laugh" and "applause" signs. I wonder what they do if somebody doesn't do what the sign tells them. I always imagined a lot of people laughing, and one guy not, and then some big employee bouncer pushing through the crowd and beating up the non-laugher, and warning him if he doesn't laugh, he'll castrate him. That's just my take on the situation.

I was watching Everybody Loves Raymond, and they somehow managed to make a whole episode about thank-you notes. Then, coincidentally and ironically, I saw a clip on gmail called "Tnx u won't do", and I didn't really understand it but I thought maybe it was about thank you notes (what does tnx u mean? Huh?) So I clicked it, and it's about how people are sending thank you notes by email, text messages, and the phone rather than handwritten mail. I believe that you should acknowledge when somebody sends you a gift, mainly so they know that you received it, but thank-you notes are a tedious task that hardly anybody enjoys. In the article, there were quotations by some people saying that if they didn't get a thank you note, they wouldn't send a gift to the person ever again. That's so freaking stupid. Who cares? It's just a gift. Even if it's something expensive, a phone call would suffice, in fact, be better than a note. Voice is personal and immediate. Also, when you give a gift, why would you want them to do something they don't want to do (thank-you note). It's not like the person isn't thankful, it's just that notes, as I said, are tedious. When I give gifts, I specifically tell the person not to send me a thank-you note, or I'll kill them. I'm reluctant to say that, because the cops are tracking me and if they read that, well, you won't be hearing from me again for 25 to life.
