Funny Stories

This story is a true story that happened to me, and there are no exaggerations or truth-bendings. It is completely true. Date of Entry: 8/25/06

This is the first of a few very, very odd stories of coincidence, coincidence which lead to fortune for myself. The first is the story of CHPLaptops, and my dealings with a guy named Eddie, or "i386". He said he'd sue me if I ever told anybody what happened, but I don't really think he can do that, and I guess if he ever sees this and asks me to take it down, I will. But I doubt he will, so I think it's safe to tell. Also, writing this here will save me the time of having to re-write it when I tell other people. Okay, so here's what happened. I like TreasureTrooper, love it, made over $1700 from it, and I'm a member of the forum. A long time ago, Eddie, whose alias on the forum was i386, was a good member. He made some nice money from TT, and I really liked him. Some would say I looked up to him.

One day he PMed me about doing some paid posting work on the CHPLaptops. So then he IMed me, and we got talking, and I got the job for 500 posts, and $0.50 per extra account created. So it all came down to $117.50. For a job of that size, one would usually require payment up front, at least half, but I am very trusting, especially I was of Eddie, so I didn't ask. I just did the job. As I went on, we conversed a lot, he helped me with a problem I was having (which I will tell in the next story), and he was nice. It took me about two and a half months (I'm probably off a little, but it was definately over 2 months) to finish the job, and it was hard, oh yes, it was hard. But I persevered, knowing that that sweet, juicy, $117.50 was coming closer to my reach.

Then, the day came when I finished the job, and I had the strong feeling he would not pay me, but I dispelled it quickly, fairly sure he would pay me. After all, he had been so nice and helpful. So, I IMed him, saying how I completed the job. So then I said something like "So... when can I expect to get paid?", and he said "I'm not paying you." At first I thought he was joking, although deep down I probably knew it was the truth. So I said "You're kidding, right?" And he replied with a no. I still refused to believe he wasn't kidding, and I think I said "you're kidding right" again, but I can't remember exactly. Finally, I accepted that it was the truth, and then I started yelling and cursing at him. He was actually surprised that I was mad, saying that "He never told me to start." I can't imagine that he never told me to go ahead, because I've done LOTS of posting jobs before, I mean lots, and I've never started before someone told me to go. And furthermore, while I was posting, he was giving me instruction on how to post, what to post, other stuff like that. Well, as I said, I was yelling and cursing, he was telling me why he didn't have to pay, he started cursing at me, and it went on for over an hour. Then the next day, I think I apologized or something, but then I started going again and another argument started. Then he threatened to sue me, and because he did a lot of legal stuff online, I thought he was serious. So I ended up blocking him.

The next time we conversed, it was a good time later. CHPLaptops, which is the place he worked for and the forum I was posting on, turned out to be a scam. It promised a laptop to people who paid $10 and then read paid emails for 180 days, but then it closed down just before it would have to give it's first person a laptop. There was a forum set up to discuss how it was a scam, and I went on and told my story. I also unblocked Eddie and started throwing insults about how he was in cohuts with a scam and stuff. He threatened to sue again for disclosing the story of what happened, and I knew he wasn't serious, and I discarded it. Eventually, he started saying some pretty convincing stuff, so instead of worrying about it anymore, I just blocked him again. Haven't talked to him since. However, I am VERY happy this whole ordeal happened, or the great event which lead to me making a good amount of money (several hundred), would have never happened. Interesting, aye?

It was actually just a few days after the big fight with Eddie that I went to a girl I knew who ran a forum posting business. I was desperate to make some money after wasting so much time and getting nothing in return. I could have done plenty of things, but as I said, I was desperate and she was online. I told her what happened and asked if I could have a job, and she gave me a job at a certain forum. The owner of this forum just happened to also be the owner of Bored.com, but I didn't know that at the time. I posted, and then I got an email from the forum owner, saying he would like me to promote something for him. Eventually, I figured out he was the owner of Bored.com, because, well, the link he gave me was a Bored.com contest thingie. So I'm all like "You own Bored.com!" and he says "Yes" and I'm like "Wow" because I used to visit the site occasionally and it was cool to talk to the guy who created it. So, he gave me a job promoting, and I worked hard and made $100, which ironically is what I would have gotten from Eddie (if the extra $0.50 per account wasn't thrown in). But it didn't stop there. I convinced the owner of Bored.com to sign up for TreasureTrooper (with my referral link) and put it on Bored.com, and being the nice guy he is, he did sign up under me, and although I don't know exactly how many second level referrals I got, it was over 2,000, and that made me a few hundred dollars. By the way, check out Bored.com, it is pretty cool. I'll forever be in debt to the owner, who was so nice for signing up for TreasureTrooper and letting me work for him. And, none of that would have happened if I had never agreed to post for Eddie. So, I do believe in Karma, because I got scammed bad, and that scam lead to me making more money than I would have regularly received. So thank you Eddie for not paying me, thank you.
